How we pick tools
Launch Stack is a rule-based recommender. It does not rank popularity contests. It matches your answers to a curated catalog, then tells you what to assemble now and what to ignore.
We recommend assembling tools (Next.js, Postgres, Polar, and so on). We do not sell a boilerplate, and we do not tell you to buy a starter kit instead of building.
- A page-first proof uses a marketing builder. An app-first proof uses Next.js.
- Postgres is the default database, usually hosted by Supabase.
- Polar is the default payments tool for digital products. Stripe is for marketplaces.
- Organizations and SSO wait until a second company actually logs in.
- AI products start with one model API, not an agent framework.
What changed
Aug 2026 — Polar replaces Stripe as Launch Stack’s own processor and as the default recommendation for digital products. Database stays Postgres.
Aug 2026 — Results now separate marketing-site week from product week, show a short why on the free teaser, and export an AGENTS.md for Cursor.
Rules live in code so you can read them. Start at the quiz.
